Located in Gaya Street’s shop houses, this museum got opened officially on 15th of July, 1965. The goals and objectives of this museum is to discover and share knowledge, to search a connection between culture and nature in everyday life, to provide a comfortable and secure working place for staff and guests, to uplift the appreciation and spirit towards Sabah’s nature and culture, to market the products of the museum among guests and interested buyers, and to create an environment promoting and reflecting the cultural norm and value. The museum’s mission is to display the unique heritage of Sabah and preserve it for future generations.
