The Sandakan Memorial Park or Sandakan War Memorial is located adjacent to original prisoners of war camp that was set up during World War II following Japanese occupation. The photographs and information available at the place has been prepared in a nice way so that visitors can imagine the actual scene that existed more than sixty years ago. The entry to the park is absolutely free and definitely amongst the most visited attractions of Sabah. The gardens are beautifully maintained and the place remains open from nine in the morning to five in the evening on a daily basis.
