This monkey sanctuary located close to Semawang mangrove forest is mainly frequented by tourists who wish to witness the Proboscis monkeys from up close. Although, this privately owned land promises to protect this endangered species but, to some it might not appeal in the same way. The small section of forest where the monkeys live is surrounded by palm oil plantations owned by the same owner. The monkeys are confined in a small space and they have no way escaping to their natural habitat. They are mostly fed on human foods like breads, cakes, etc.
